Embark on a 3 – day tour of discovery to see one of the most ravishing highland region, rich with its wonderful nature, glaciated landscapes, hospitable people, architectural and religious sites, hiking trails, great wine and food.
Racha is located in the northwest part of Georgia between Svaneti and Imereti regions, about 330 km. away from Tbilisi (100 km. from Kutaisi). After crossing the first ridge at the Nakerala Pass, with the pit stop and spectacular views, there starts a sightly mountainous tract of the land that stretches from the lower land of western Georgia up to the Great Caucasus Mountains.
We follow north along the way to Nikortsminda Cathedral. In the middle of the way the first landmark is Shaori Reservoir, surrounded colorful forest reflected in the lake. Our next stop is medieval Cathedral of St. Nicolaus located in a similarly named village. It is a symbol of the golden age of Georgian architecture, with its façade decorations and stone carvings. Next to the village is a cave named ,,Sakinule”, a perfect site to escape from the summer hit.
The route heads to northeast towards the small city Ambrolauri, famous with its winery. Racha is also Georgia’s second most significant wine producing area. As many as 60 local species of grape vines were cultivated here. The most popular is Khvanchkara (semi-sweet red vine) that can grow only in the similarly named village near Ambrolauri. We follow east all the upstream of the river Rioni to the ancient city Oni. Oni is an administrative center of Racha. We will overnight in a local hotel and next day continue our driving northeast onwards health resort Utsera, known for its mineral water, then to Shovi. Shovi (1520 masl) is a mountain climatic and health resort on the south slopes of the main Caucasus ridge. From where we can do most impressive hike upwards Buba and Tbilisa glaciers, leaving a lasting impression on you. We return to Oni for overnight stay and in the 3rd day we will visit one of the most venerable churches in Georgia, dating back to the 11th century. Its actual name even translates as a ,,all-powerful” and the views from the church is really divine. We can enjoy sandwiches picnic style at the nearby small lake and after that return home with truly long lasting memories.

We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.
Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.
Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.
An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and in 1912 the rack railway was opened. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.
